Baron Corbin survived Carmelo Hayes to retain the WWE United States Championship on the August 14 episode of SmackDown, but the real chaos started after the bell when Lil Yachty suddenly got involved and cracked Corbin with a kendo stick.
Corbin had just put Hayes away with End of Days to keep his title when Trick Williams came out and things immediately went sideways. Lil Yachty blasted Corbin with the kendo stick and went for another shot, but Corbin managed to block the second swing before Trick jumped into the fight and drilled the United States Champion with a jumping knee.
The attack came after Corbin successfully fought off Hayes in a physical title defense. Hayes landed two First 48s late in the match and tried to finish things from the top rope, but Corbin sent him crashing to the floor before connecting with End of Days for the three-count.
Corbin barely had time to celebrate. Trick’s arrival opened the door for Lil Yachty to turn the post-match scene into a weapon-filled ambush, with the kendo stick shot giving the segment a completely different ending than Corbin probably expected after retaining his championship.
Trick has already made it clear that he still has issues with Corbin after losing the United States Championship to him, and now Lil Yachty has physically inserted himself into the situation. Corbin may have walked out of SmackDown with the title, but he also walked straight into another problem.
