Leon Slater got his championship back at TNA Lockdown 2026, defeating Cedric Alexander in a brutal Last Man Standing Match to become the new TNA X-Division Champion while saving his historic title reign from being erased from the record books.
The stakes couldn’t have been much higher for Slater on August 23 in Chicago. Alexander entered as champion, but the stipulation meant that if Slater failed to win, his previous X-Division Championship reign would essentially be wiped from TNA history.
Both men beat the hell out of each other inside and around the cage, with Slater eventually getting busted open after Alexander sent him crashing into the steel. Alexander later drilled Slater with a Michinoku Driver from the top rope to the floor, but even that wasn’t enough to keep him down for the ten-count.
Slater then completely unloaded in the closing stretch. He hit Alexander with a twisting superplex before repeatedly using Alexander’s own Lumbar Check against him as the Chicago crowd got louder behind the challenger.
Then came the kill shot. Slater went to the top and connected with a 450 Splash. Alexander couldn’t beat the referee’s count, giving Slater the Last Man Standing victory and the X-Division Championship.
That means Leon Slater leaves Chicago with more than just the title. He also protected his place in TNA history after Alexander spent weeks trying to make sure Slater’s previous championship reign disappeared from the record books for good.
Cedric Alexander did everything he could to bury Slater’s history, but Slater answered by taking his championship right back. Now the X-Division belongs to Leon Slater once again.
