Leon Slater has one big request for TNA Destination X, and it has nothing to do with who he’s facing. With the event returning as a pay-per-view in November, the TNA World Champion is hoping the company brings back one of the most recognizable parts of its past — the six-sided ring.
While speaking on the I Love Wrestling Podcast, Slater was asked about Destination X returning and immediately revealed what he had been hoping for. He made it clear he has no inside information about whether the six-sided ring is actually coming back, but he’d love the chance to finally wrestle inside it.
“I was just praying that the six-sided ring would come back, to be real. And I don’t know if it is, I don’t know if it isn’t. But, man, I hope it does, because I’m sure, like you, growing up in TNA, that’s what we loved, right?”
Slater is well aware that actually wrestling inside the six-sided ring wasn’t always as fun as it looked on television. Plenty of wrestlers have talked about how much harder the ring was compared to a traditional four-sided setup, but that hasn’t scared him away from wanting the experience.
“So, to get the chance to compete in a six-sided ring, as much as people said it sucked back in the day, and it’s, like, way harder, and it hurts way more than a four-sided ring, and that hurts enough, trust me, I would love the chance to be TNA World Champion and wrestle in a TNA six-sided ring.”
Destination X is set for November 15 at the Edmonton Expo Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The event will be particularly notable because it marks the first Destination X show in nine years, with TNA last holding the event back in 2017.
Slater already has plenty to worry about without wondering what shape the ring will be. He’s scheduled to defend the TNA World Championship against Trey Miguel at the show, putting one of TNA’s biggest prizes on the line for Destination X’s comeback.
For now, there’s no confirmation that TNA plans to dust off the six-sided ring for the event. Slater is simply hoping the company leans all the way into Destination X nostalgia and gives him the chance to experience something he grew up watching.
