TNA Destination X officially has its first match locked in.
The main event of the post-Bound For Glory edition of TNA Wrestling Thursday Night iMPACT featured a five-way Ladder match to determine who would challenge Leon Slater for the TNA World Championship at Destination X on November 15 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
The match featured Elijah, Jason Hotch, Ricky Sosa, Trey Miguel and Moose, with the winner earning the next shot at Slater’s title. Things quickly got messy as several outside issues spilled into the match. New TNA International Champion Jason Hotch started climbing the ladder before former champion Mustafa Ali appeared. The two ended up brawling their way toward the backstage area, taking Hotch out of the immediate picture.
Elijah then looked like he might be closing in on the contract, but Nic Nemeth suddenly entered the situation. Nemeth has been frustrated over not receiving what he claims is his contractually obligated rematch against Leon Slater, and he decided to take matters into his own hands by climbing the ladder despite not actually being part of the match. That move backfired. Trey Miguel took Nemeth out of the equation before climbing the ladder and retrieving the contract, officially earning the TNA World Championship match.
That means the first confirmed match for Destination X will see Leon Slater defend the TNA World Championship against Trey Miguel. The win gives Miguel one of the biggest opportunities of his TNA career, while Slater now has his next challenger set just weeks after Bound For Glory.
Destination X takes place November 15 in Edmonton, and with the first match now confirmed, TNA has officially started putting the card together.
