Nic Nemeth barely had time to celebrate becoming a double champion at TNA Lockdown 2026 before Leon Slater came out, got directly in his face and announced that he plans to cash in his X-Division Championship for a shot at Nemeth’s TNA World Title at Bound For Glory.
The confrontation happened immediately after Nic and Ryan Nemeth defeated Matt and Jeff Hardy in the Lockdown main event to capture the TNA World Tag Team Championships. Nic nailed Matt Hardy with Danger Zone and got the three-count while Jeff was caught up in the cage and couldn’t make the save. That victory made Nic Nemeth both the TNA World Champion and one-half of the TNA World Tag Team Champions, but his celebration didn’t last long.
Leon Slater came out following the title change and confronted Nemeth in the ring. Slater, who had won back the X-Division Championship earlier in the night, made his intentions crystal clear — at Bound For Glory, he plans to exercise his right as X-Division Champion and trade in the title for a shot at Nemeth’s TNA World Championship.
Slater had already gone through hell earlier in the show to regain the X-Division Title, defeating Cedric Alexander in a Last Man Standing Match after hitting a 450 Splash and leaving Alexander unable to answer the referee’s ten-count.
Instead of celebrating another X-Division run, Slater immediately aimed higher. Nemeth ended Lockdown with even more championship gold than he started with, but he also left with a major new problem. Leon Slater has already called his shot, and if he follows through at Bound For Glory, Nemeth could be defending the TNA World Championship against one of the fastest-rising stars in the company.
