Lars Sullivan saw Brian Cage openly discussing his history with PEDs and decided the bigger issue was AEW. The former WWE star used Cage’s comments to accuse the company of allowing its wrestlers to abuse steroids.

The former WWE Superstar took to Twitter and made the allegation in one sentence, accusing the company of allowing their talent to abuse steroids.

“AEW allows their wrestlers to abuse steroids lol”

Sullivan did not provide any evidence that AEW permits or encourages steroid abuse among its talent. His post came after Cage spoke openly about PEDs during an appearance on the Smooth Vega Podcast. Cage wasn’t trying to pretend PEDs had never been part of his life. He admitted using them in the past while pushing back against people who believe his physique means steroids deserve the credit for his wrestling career.

“Do steroids work? Absolutely. Have I taken PEDs? Absolutely. I’ve never said I haven’t. People try to, like, judge me, and I feel like, too, that’s a thing. People try to, like, call you out as if you’re keeping a secret. Are PEDs what got me to where I am? Absolutely not.”

When Cage addressed what he is currently taking, he specifically said he has only been on testosterone replacement therapy, noting that he is now 42 years old. Cage also argued that people use his physique to make assumptions about what he takes while ignoring how common PED use can be beyond his own situation.

“When people say like, ‘Oh, I’m so gassed up at my return,’ I’ve only been on TRT forever now. I’m 42 years old.”

“The amount of people that take stuff is wild. I’ll just say this, there’s a lot more people, not just in wrestling, but everywhere that take stuff than don’t take stuff. That’s for sure.”

None of Cage’s comments established that AEW allows its wrestlers to abuse steroids. Cage was speaking about his own history, his current TRT use and his frustration with having his wrestling ability reduced to assumptions about PEDs.

Sullivan apparently heard enough to make it about the entire company anyway. Cage admitted his own past PED use, and Sullivan turned that into a much broader accusation against AEW without offering anything to substantiate it.
