Kendal Grey walked into The Great American Bash dressed like a legend, walked out as NXT Women’s Champion, and Kurt Angle definitely noticed.

The newly crowned champion paid tribute to the WWE Hall of Famer by wearing split blue-and-white gear inspired by Angle during her title-winning match against Lola Vice. It did not take long for Angle to spot it, and he made sure to give Grey her flowers after the biggest win of her career.

“Witnessing the rise of the next generation is nothing short of incredible! I couldn’t be prouder to see Kendal Grey rocking my gear and claiming her throne as the new NXT Woman’s Champion!”

Angle praised Grey’s work ethic and said her rise through NXT is well deserved, adding that she’s carving out her own path despite the tribute.

“@kendalgreywwe relentless dedication embodies everything we represent in this industry. There’s only one Kendal Grey, and I can’t wait to see her conquer new heights.”

Then Angle couldn’t resist slipping in one last line. While congratulating Grey, he joked that she may have another member of the Angle family to worry about down the road.

“But…… just a heads up, in 8 years, you might want to watch your back, Kendal. There’s another Angle eager to step into that ring, and she’s got her eyes on you! #itstrue.”

Grey already had plenty to celebrate after defeating Lola Vice in the main event of The Great American Bash to capture the NXT Women’s Championship. She later thanked fans on social media and promised it was “back to the grind tomorrow,” but now she has something else to add to the list—a shout-out from an Olympic gold medalist and one of WWE’s greatest of all time. Winning the title was a career-changing moment. Getting Kurt Angle’s approval on top of it made the night even sweeter.
