Kurt Angle hasn’t wrestled a match since hanging up his boots, but apparently that doesn’t mean the WWE Hall of Famer has forgotten how to slap on an Ankle Lock. James Ellsworth found that out the hard way during a recent appearance at MCW Pro Wrestling.

Angle and Ellsworth ended up having a confrontation inside the ring during the event, and Ellsworth apparently decided testing an Olympic gold medalist was a good idea. Video from the show showed Ellsworth attempting to kick Angle, only for Angle to catch his leg and immediately turn the situation around.

Angle quickly took Ellsworth down and locked him in his signature Ankle Lock. Ellsworth was clearly selling the pain as Angle cranked away before eventually releasing the hold, leaving Ellsworth to be helped out of the ring afterwards.

Naturally, Ellsworth had a slightly different version of how everything went down. He took to Twitter and uploaded footage of the confrontation and accused Angle of attacking him for absolutely no reason.

“#WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle attacked me unprovoked at @MCWWrestling”

Angle’s days of taking bumps and working full matches may be behind him, but moments like this give fans a little taste of the old Kurt without requiring him to actually come out of retirement. Ellsworth just happened to volunteer his ankle for the demonstration.

What did you make of Kurt Angle breaking out the Ankle Lock on James Ellsworth years after his retirement? Let us know what you think in the comments.
