WWE changed the game after acquiring Mexican lucha libre promotion AAA last month, and AAA will be holding their Triplemanía Regia event on June 15th. The event’s taking place a few days before AEW Grand Slam: Mexico, and now Konnan has dismissed accusations that AAA is trying to sabotage AEW.
While speaking on the Keepin’ It 100 podcast, Konnan addressed Dave Meltzer’s take on the June 15th TripleMania event, which is scheduled just three days before AEW’s Grand Slam: Mexico with CMLL on June 18th. Meltzer accused AAA of trying to sabotage AEW by holding Triplemanía Regia three days before Grand Slam: Mexico.
Konnan shot down the accusation, stating that AAA had already chosen their date before AEW announced theirs. He explained that people can say whatever they want, but that doesn’t make it true.
Konnan added that the situation doesn’t bother him and he doesn’t care about the speculation, but felt the need to respond. Konnan added that AAA had the date first, even if AEW hadn’t made theirs public yet, and reminded everyone that he works directly for AAA.
“Let me just say this, bro. We already had come out with that date. So, they’re putting together something that doesn’t even exist or is true, right? They can say whatever takes they want. It doesn’t mean it’s true, and it doesn’t bother me, and I really don’t give a s***, but I’m just answering back. I can guarantee you that we had our date first. Maybe they didn’t publicize it. Yeah. Bro, I work for Triple A.”
It was already confirmed that Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo will be appearing at Triplemanía Regia and on top of that, multiple TNA talent will also be part of the highly anticipated event. Regardless, Konnan made it clear there was no act of sabotage involved and he’s just focusing on making Triplemanía Regia a great show and that’s all that matters to him in the end.
