Kevin Knight had a big night on AEW Dynamite, and it came with a major reveal before his TNT Championship defense.
During the June 3 episode of AEW Dynamite from Richmond, Virginia, Andrade El Idolo made quick work of DK Vandu in singles action. After the match, Andrade grabbed a microphone and called out MJF, making it clear that he wanted a shot at the AEW World Championship.
That is when Don Callis and Jake Doyle interrupted him. Andrade appeared caught off guard by the interruption, but Callis had a different announcement to make. Callis revealed that Kevin Knight had joined the Don Callis Family.
The timing made the moment stand out, because Knight was already set to defend the AEW TNT Championship against “Speedball” Mike Bailey in the show. That meant Knight walked into the match not just as champion, but as the newest member of one of AEW’s most hated groups.
Knight then made his way to the ring for his TNT Title defense against Bailey. The two had a fast-paced match, with Bailey hitting high-flying offense early, but Knight was able to cut him off and take control.
In the end, Knight hit his finisher and scored the win, retaining the AEW TNT Championship in his first match after being announced as part of the Don Callis Family.
The move gives Callis another champion in his group and gives Knight a new layer to his AEW run. Knight was already building momentum as TNT Champion, but joining the Don Callis Family immediately puts him in a bigger spotlight and gives fans another reason to keep an eye on him.
