Kenny Omega wasn’t about to let one fan’s joke about Will Ospreay slide.
A fan took to Twitter and made a joke comparing Will Ospreay to Charlie Kirk, taking a shot at Ospreay’s microphone skills while also referencing his ongoing neck injury storyline. The joke compared Ospreay’s neck issues to Kirk, who was killed after being shot in the neck in 2025
“Will Ospreay is as bad on the mic as Charlie Kirk, but can’t sell the neck as well as he did.”
Omega spotted the post and immediately fired back. For Omega, it wasn’t just another bad joke on social media, as he asked the fan to show some class.
“What the f**k is wrong with you? It isn’t hard to try having some class.”
Ospreay’s neck isn’t just a storyline. It’s something he’s battled in real life, and Omega wasn’t about to let someone turn that into a punchline alongside a real-life murder. So he came back again.
“A dear friend battles back from a career threatening injury, is no doubt still fighting pain today, and is somehow mocked and compared to a dude that was murdered.”
The Best Bout Machine made it clear he isn’t against jokes. He’s just against mixing two completely different situations together.
“I get that a joke is a joke but these things should really be kept separate in my opinion.”
Ospreay has been open about the serious neck injury that sidelined him and threatened his wrestling career, making Omega’s reaction understandable. So instead of ignoring the post, the AEW World Champion chose to publicly defend one of his closest friends and call for a little more decency online.
Do you agree with Kenny Omega’s response, or do you think fans should be free to joke about anything on social media?
