Kendal Grey is officially back in the ring. After spending weeks on the sidelines and recently confirming that she’d finally been medically cleared, the NXT star returned to action at WWE’s October 15 live event in Kitchener and immediately picked up a win.
Grey faced Karmen Petrovic in her first match back and defeated her, putting an end to an absence that stretched back to August 30. More importantly, the match confirmed that Grey isn’t just cleared to compete anymore — she’s officially back in business.
It’s a pretty big turnaround from where Grey was just a few days ago. On October 11, she was still teasing fans about her absence with a beach photo drop on Instagram and a caption that made it clear she hadn’t disappeared from anyone’s radar.
“Still out of action, but not out of your head.”
Grey had been sidelined since suffering an injury at NXT Heatwave. During her time away, WWE kept her recovery part of the story through several therapy segments, while Grey also lost the Women’s Championship to Kelani Jordan.
Things finally started looking up when Grey appeared backstage on NXT and revealed during a conversation with Wren Sinclair that she’d received medical clearance. At that point, though, fans still hadn’t actually seen her wrestle again.
That changed in Kitchener. Grey didn’t just step back between the ropes for the first time in more than a month — she walked away with a victory over Petrovic and made it clear her time on the sidelines is over.
Her return also comes at an interesting point in the Women’s Championship picture. Sinclair is currently scheduled to challenge Jordan for the title at Halloween Havoc on October 31 after NXT General Manager Robert Stone lifted her suspension and granted her the match.
Grey has already made it clear that she wants to reclaim the championship she lost while sidelined. With Sinclair getting her opportunity first and Grey now officially wrestling again, the title picture could get complicated pretty quickly depending on what happens at Halloween Havoc.
For now, the biggest news is that Grey’s comeback has gone from a medical clearance to an actual in-ring return. After weeks of recovery, she wasted no time getting back in the win column.
