John Cena has officially slammed the door—at least for now—on reviving one of the more infamous moves from his WWE arsenal: the springboard stunner.

During a recent appearance at Fan Expo Denver, the Undisputed WWE Champion was asked whether he’d ever consider bringing back the aerial move he debuted at WrestleMania 31 in his match against Rusev. Cena responded with his signature dry humor before laying it out plainly for the crowd. “So, you know, the answer is no right here.”

He went on to explain why the move didn’t exactly become a long-term part of his repertoire.

“I don’t know. Anything could happen, you know? Yeah, anything could happen. But me and gravity, I realized, are good friends. I thought, man, I’m going to jump off the second rope, fly like an eagle, and I realized that I’m just not good. It was good, though, so you’re the one guy that thinks it was good.”

In true Cena fashion, he even gave credit to another WWE star for doing it better.

“I will tell you—and I know I’m promoting my competition here—I think Cody Rhodes has cornered the market on that maneuver.”

The springboard stunner was met with mixed reactions when Cena first introduced it, with fans and critics debating whether it fit his style. It’s now safe to say that unless gravity reverses course, Cena won’t be springing off any ropes in the near future.

Should Cena give the springboard stunner another shot, or should it stay in the vault? Drop your take in the comments.
