Jim Ross finally has something he didn’t have last week: a surgery date.

After revealing that doctors discovered fluid pressing on his brain following a terrifying collapse that led to an almost 40-day hospital stay, the legendary commentator has now confirmed the next chapter of his recovery is officially locked in.

Speaking on the latest episode of Grilling JR, Ross revealed his brain surgery is now scheduled for August. He didn’t disclose the exact date, but when Conrad Thompson brought it up, JR made it clear he’s more than ready to get it over with.

Yeah, next month, that’s it. I’ll be ready to go.”

For Ross, finally getting the procedure on the calendar is another step toward putting one of the toughest stretches of his life behind him. After spending nearly six weeks in the hospital, dealing with countless doctor visits, tests and pre-op appointments, JR admitted he’s exhausted by the whole process and is desperate to get back to feeling like himself again.

When Conrad asked how it feels to finally be home, Ross said every day has been a little better than the last—even if he’s not back to 100 percent yet.

“Great. I’m just getting better every day. My balance is still a little screwed up, but it’s getting better. So, you know, I’m just happy that I’m alive and I’m happy that I’ve been diagnosed correctly, I think. So let’s get it on.”

Ross also gave fans a glimpse of what the last week has looked like behind the scenes, saying his life has revolved around doctors, scheduling and preparing for the operation. It’s reached the point where he’s simply ready for it to be over.

“I’ve been a little bit busy, Conrad. You know, these doctors and their surgery schedules and pre-op and this and that and the other. I’m just sick of this… I’ll be glad to get healthy. God almighty. The greatest gift a man can have is his good health.”

The update comes just one week after Ross revealed he would need brain surgery after doctors discovered fluid pressing on his brain following a frightening collapse at home. The Hall of Famer previously explained that doctors plan to implant a shunt to relieve the pressure, a procedure he admitted was both serious and intimidating.

Now, though, the uncertainty is gone. The surgery is booked, the recovery process is about to begin, and if you ask JR, there’s only one thing left to do—get through the operation, get healthy, and get back to living life.

Everyone here is wishing Jim Ross a successful surgery and a smooth recovery. Feel free to leave your well wishes for Good Ol’ JR in the comments below.
