Jim Cornette just took his hatred of Donald Trump and the MAGA movement to another level. This time, the wrestling personality isn’t simply throwing insults around — he’s openly calling for laws that would stop Trump supporters from being able to vote again.
Cornette made the comment on Twitter while responding to a post about newly revealed records obtained during former special counsel Jack Smith’s Arctic Frost investigation. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley says Smith’s office and the Justice Department obtained spreadsheets containing information on at least 639,000 Republican donors, voters and supporters, including some people who purchased MAGA merchandise. Smith has previously said subpoenas issued by his office were used to gather facts as part of a criminal investigation.
The tweet Cornette responded to wasn’t exactly subtle about its position either. It called the records a “hit list” and argued that Smith should have been the person getting investigated, but Cornette had a completely different reaction to the whole thing.
Cornette isn’t just saying he thinks MAGA voters made a bad decision. He’s saying he’d actually like to see laws preventing them from voting again, comparing the idea to someone being held responsible after hurting another person through reckless driving.
“Glad to know that responsible parties are keeping an eye on the MAGAts that enabled S***** to destroy the United States—I advocate for laws keeping them from voting again. If you’re reckless with your car & hurt someone, you’re liable—why not if you hurt people w/your vote?”
Cornette didn’t explain how something like that would actually work legally, and stripping citizens of voting rights simply because of the candidate they supported would raise obvious constitutional issues. His point, though, was pretty clear — he believes people should face consequences when he thinks their vote has caused harm.
This also isn’t some sudden political turn for Cornette. He’s been going after Trump for years, and recently tore into Linda McMahon after she appeared alongside the president while discussing transgender students and parental rights.
Cornette responded to that appearance by calling McMahon a “plastic-faced stooge” and Trump a “crime boss.” He also mocked anyone who believed what McMahon was saying, so he’s made it pretty clear there isn’t much love lost between him and the Trump administration.
But this one goes further than Jim Cornette’s usual insults. Instead of simply ripping Donald Trump or MAGA supporters, he’s now saying he’d like to see those voters lose the ability to do it again.
