Jeff Jarrett hasn’t wrestled inside an AEW ring in a year and a half, and he’s not making it sound like there’s some huge mystery behind it.
While speaking to Ariel Helwani, Jarrett was asked why his last AEW match came all the way back on the January 29, 2025 episode of Dynamite, where Claudio Castagnoli beat him. Jarrett has worked a few independent dates since then, but inside AEW, he’s mostly been seen on Zero Hour instead of in the ring. Jarrett said that’s simply the role he’s been given.
“Well, I do Zero Hour. But hey, we talked about in this interview where I had to put my cap on and make a decision.”
He also made it clear he isn’t sitting in AEW’s creative department or working talent relations. Jarrett said he’s just talent, and if AEW asks him to analyze on Zero Hour, that’s what he does.
“So I’m very comfortable. I’m not in the creative department. I’m not in talent relations in AEW. I’m a talent.”
That also means the door isn’t closed on him wrestling again. Jarrett said if AEW calls him to get back in the ring, he’ll do it. The WWE Hall of Famer made it clear he has no behind-the-scenes role whatsoever.
“So when I’m called into Zero Hour to be an analyst, I do that. When I’m called to wrestle, I will wrestle. Yeah, I’m just an on-screen talent, whether a wrestler or not. Nothing behind the scenes.”
So Jarrett isn’t claiming he was sidelined, buried, or quietly moved into some backstage role. He’s still part of AEW as an on-screen talent, but right now that means Zero Hour more than wrestling matches. For Double J, it sounds pretty simple: if AEW wants him at the desk, he’ll talk. If AEW wants him in the ring, he’ll wrestle.
