Jacob Fatu knows exactly how dangerous a hardcore match can get, and when New Jack’s name came up, he didn’t pretend he’d try to outdo the ECW legend.

During a conversation with TheSportster, Fatu was asked about fantasy matches and how he would have handled stepping into the ring with New Jack during the extreme era of ECW. Instead of talking tough, Fatu joked that survival would have been the real goal.

“I would have let him win. I would have said, ‘F**ing put the fork away, dude.’ I would have seen him playing the guitar, ‘Put the guitar away.’ I would have seen him vacuuming, ‘Put the vacuum away.’”*

After laughing about how chaotic that kind of match would be, Fatu made it clear the respect was real. He revealed that New Jack wasn’t just someone he knew about — he was one of his favorites growing up, and those hardcore matches left a mark on him as a kid. He explained that he and his family used to act out ECW-style moments at home, even using ketchup to fake blood, which didn’t always go over well.

“Now, overall though, that's crazy you brought that — New Jack was one of my favorite all time, man. Like, man, we used to put ketchup on our head and walk into the living room with our old school toy bucket, ‘Yo, ECW!’ And my mom used to whip our ass ’cause we used all that ketchup fake bleeding.”

Even with the jokes, Fatu said the idea of facing New Jack would have been something special, especially in the kind of wild match both men were known for watching.

“But now, man, that's a dope match. I mean, it would have been so dope if that was able to happen. I'm just saying Jacob Fatu, New Jack, WCW Halloween Havoc in the Dumpster Match with all the weapons — that's where you want to go.”

Fatu has built his reputation on intensity, but moments like this show he’s still a fan at heart who grew up watching hardcore wrestling at its wildest. A match between Jacob Fatu and New Jack will never happen, but it’s easy to imagine just how crazy it could have been.
