Jack Perry’s AEW future is getting a lot more interesting, because he still has not signed a new deal and the clock is apparently running out fast.

Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer stated that Perry has not re-signed with AEW as of today. That is a pretty big update, because his contract is said to be coming up very soon. AEW and Perry were already said to be negotiating back in June, but there is still no new deal locked in. Alvarez wrote the latest update on Perry’s status and made it clear that nothing has been finalized yet.

“As of today, Jack Perry still has not re-signed with AEW and his contract is up very shortly.”

That puts AEW in a real spot. Perry has been with the company since 2019, and he was one of the early names fans attached to the promotion. He came in as Jungle Boy, became a key part of Jurassic Express, won tag team gold, turned heel, joined The Elite, and later held the TNT Championship.

Tony Khan has already made it clear that he wants Perry around for the long haul. During the Forbidden Door media call, Khan was asked about Perry’s status and talked him up in a big way. Khan said the plan is for Perry to remain with AEW for a long time, but that still has not turned into a signed contract. Khan said AEW still sees Perry as a big part of the company’s future. He also praised Perry’s work and said he believes Perry has a strong future in wrestling.

That sounds great, but nice words do not mean much until the deal is signed. Perry’s contract being this close to the finish line without a new agreement makes the situation worth watching.

Perry has already had a wild AEW run. He started as one of the company’s young homegrown stars, then became part of one of AEW’s most talked-about backstage situations after the CM Punk altercation. Punk was later fired, Perry was suspended, and then Perry returned with a much different edge to his character.

Since coming back, Perry has been pushed as a bigger deal, including his run with The Elite. That makes it even more surprising that AEW has not locked him down yet, especially with Khan publicly saying the plan is for him to stay.

Perry’s most recent match was a loss to Zack Sabre Jr. on the June 24 episode of AEW Dynamite. Since then, fans have been waiting to see what AEW does with him next, but now the bigger question is whether he will even be under contract much longer.

For now, Jack Perry has not signed a new AEW deal, and his contract is coming up soon. Tony Khan wants him to stay, AEW has invested years into him, and Perry still has plenty of value at only 29 years old. Still, until the paperwork is done, this situation is not closed.
