One of the “police officers” trying to keep Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi apart on WWE RAW was not exactly a cop—and Dustin Rhodes knew precisely who he was.

WWE brought out a group of officers during the July 13 confrontation between Lesnar and Femi, but the uniforms were filled by independent wrestlers and actors working as extras for the show.

After fans began joking that one of the officers looked like a former world champion, Rhodes jumped into the conversation and identified him as Cordell, one of his students from the Rhodes Wrestling Academy.

“The second from the left is Cordell. My student, and he is badass.”

Cordell trained under Rhodes before wrestling across the Texas independent scene as Cordell Bennett and CD Bennett. His RAW appearance gave him a chance to stand in the middle of a major WWE angle involving two of the company’s biggest monsters.

Independent wrestlers are regularly brought in to play security guards, police officers and other background roles on WWE television. This time, one of those extras happened to have an AEW veteran proudly watching from home.

Lesnar and Femi are now headed toward their third match, with the two set to collide inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam. The event takes place August 1 and August 2 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Cordell may have only been there to wear a uniform and control the chaos, but getting identified by Dustin Rhodes turned his brief RAW appearance into a much bigger moment.
