WWE is locking down some new names, and one of them already appears to belong to Jessica Bogdanov.
The company recently filed trademarks for Vanta, Vanta The Unknown, Kylee Quinn, and Milosh Jovic. The filings cover wrestling performances, broadcast appearances, fan club services, online newsletters, blogs, and other sports entertainment uses.
“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”
The most interesting one is Vanta The Unknown, because that is now visible on Jessica Bogdanov’s Instagram page as her official WWE ring name. WWE has also been testing the character in NXT matches over the past several weeks. Bogdanov lost to Lizzy Rain at an NXT live event in Lakeland, Florida, on May 1. A few days later, she lost to Masyn Holiday in a dark match before NXT at the WWE Performance Center on May 5.
By June, WWE had started using the “Unknown” branding more clearly. On June 2, Jessica The Unknown lost to Karmen Petrovic in a dark match before NXT. On June 5, she teamed with Zena Sterling at an NXT live event in Davenport, Florida, where they lost to Martinez and Skylar Raye. Then on June 16, Jessica The Unknown lost to Skylar Raye in another dark match at the WWE Performance Center.
So, WWE is not just filing random paperwork here. The company has already been experimenting with the name and presentation before bringing it fully to TV. There is no word yet on who will use Kylee Quinn or Milosh Jovic, but Vanta The Unknown looks like it is already in motion for Bogdanov.
