The Hurt Syndicate may not be disappearing from AEW television entirely, but a new backstage update suggests fans shouldn’t expect Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin and MVP to return to being one of the company’s featured acts anytime soon.
While speaking during BackupHangman Radio, Self Made Pro was asked whether he expects MVP and The Hurt Syndicate to become a consistent presence on AEW television again. His answer was a straightforward no.
“They’re gonna show up intermittently on Collision to do random things.”
He went on to explain that, in his view, a wrestling act can effectively be finished long before it officially breaks up or disappears from television. According to Self Made Pro, that’s how he currently views the group.
“I talk about how a lot of people’s runs end way before they actually end, and the Hurt Syndicate’s AEW run has already ended in real terms. So there you go, as in terms of a serious, consistent act.”
The comments come after months of sporadic appearances from The Hurt Syndicate. Although the group competed at AEW All In in August, Lashley, Benjamin and MVP have rarely been featured consistently on Dynamite or Collision since then, leading to growing frustration from fans who expected the faction to play a much bigger role.
Of course, this is still just one backstage report, and AEW hasn’t indicated that The Hurt Syndicate is finished as a group. But if this is accurate, fans hoping for the faction to return as a major weekly force on AEW television may end up waiting a long time.
