WWE moved quickly to honor Hulk Hogan after his death, and new footage shows how the company handled those emotional first moments behind the scenes.

In the docuseries Hulk Hogan: Real American, newly released footage shows Paul “Triple H” Levesque addressing WWE staff and talent during a meeting held shortly after Hogan passed away in July 2025. The meeting focused on how the company would pay tribute to one of the most influential figures in wrestling history.

While speaking to those gathered, Triple H acknowledged Hogan’s impact on the industry and made it clear that WWE intended to honor his legacy despite the ups and downs that marked his life and career.

“Just before we get started, as I’m sure everyone is aware, there was the unfortunate passing of Hulk Hogan yesterday. It’s hard to say there’s been a more influential figure, especially on the performing side.”

Triple H continued by reflecting on Hogan’s complicated legacy while stressing that his importance to wrestling could not be denied.

“No one is perfect in life, and he had his ups and downs, but we’re going to continue to remember Hulk Hogan for what he meant to this industry. His influence cannot be denied, and it cannot be overstated.”

He then explained just how significant Hogan’s role was in shaping modern professional wrestling, suggesting the industry might look very different today without him.

“You could make an argument that we probably wouldn’t be sitting here today. This business might have gone the way of roller derby or some other sht that didn’t quite make it to the end—but here we are.”*

Triple H also laid out the plan for WWE’s televised tribute, confirming that the company would open the show with a traditional 10-bell salute featuring the entire roster — while also making it clear participation would not be forced.

“So we’re going to start this show out tonight with a 10-bell salute, with everybody on stage. I don’t think it needs to be said, but anybody that has an issue or does not want to be on that stage—no problem, no issue, no anything.”

The footage offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at how WWE leadership handled the immediate aftermath of Hogan’s death and organized one of the company’s most significant tribute moments.

With new details continuing to surface from the docuseries, it sheds more light on how WWE balanced honoring Hogan’s legacy while recognizing the complexities of his public image.
