GUNTHER already has a reputation for ending legendary careers, and he’s more than willing to add Brock Lesnar’s name to that list.
The Ring General has already been credited with retiring Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles. While many fans expected Brock Lesnar to be next after WrestleMania 42, Lesnar recently returned to WWE after losing to Oba Femi, putting him back on GUNTHER’s radar.
During an interview with Rompipallone, GUNTHER was asked whether he would want the opportunity to retire Lesnar himself. His answer was immediate.
“Yeah, if I get the chance, of course I’ll do it. Who would turn it down?”
While GUNTHER likes the idea of facing Lesnar, he isn’t convinced the match will actually happen. Speaking separately with Italian Wrestling Channel, the former World Heavyweight Champion admitted he has no idea what WWE’s plans are and revealed he wasn’t even present when Lesnar appeared to retire after WrestleMania 42.
“I wasn’t even there. I found out the next day through the news.”
Despite the speculation surrounding a potential showdown with Lesnar, GUNTHER’s attention is currently focused elsewhere. The Ring General is preparing to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WWE Clash in Italy on May 31. Meanwhile, Lesnar is set to run things back with Oba Femi in a rematch following their WrestleMania encounter.
A match between GUNTHER and Lesnar has been discussed by fans for years because of their similar hard-hitting styles and dominant reputations. Although the bout has never happened, GUNTHER’s latest comments make it clear he’d welcome the opportunity if WWE ever decides to pull the trigger.
