Ring of Honor’s latest television tapings featured some unexpected former WWE presence backstage.
According to Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp, at least two names connected to WWE in recent years were backstage at this week’s ROH tapings in Florida — Carlito and Bobby Steveson.
Carlito was reportedly visiting the show because Epico and Primo were competing during the tapings. Despite his long wrestling career and ties across multiple promotions, Carlito has never wrestled for either AEW or Ring of Honor.
The backstage appearance immediately caught attention considering Carlito was still part of WWE programming not that long ago before quietly disappearing from television.
Bobby Steveson was also backstage at the tapings, although Fightful noted he did not wrestle during the event. Steveson was said to be working at the show in some capacity.
Steveson previously wrestled in WWE NXT under the Damon Kemp name before leaving the company. Since his WWE departure, he has only wrestled sporadically over the past two years.
The ROH tapings continue to attract talent and visitors from across the wrestling industry, but seeing two former WWE names backstage immediately fueled speculation online about possible future appearances or connections with AEW and ROH moving forward.
At this point, there’s no indication Carlito or Bobby Steveson are officially signing with AEW or ROH, but their presence backstage definitely got fans talking.
