TNA may be cooking up a pretty big Slammiversary surprise, and Amazing Red might not be the only name fans are talking about when the show hits Boston.

According to PWInsider, TNA is expected to debut a former WWE talent at Slammiversary weekend. The mystery name has not been revealed yet, but the word making the rounds is that this person is a former multi-time singles champion.

That detail is just vague enough to send fans into full detective mode. A “multi-time singles champion” could mean a lot of people, but the important part is that TNA has someone new coming in for one of its biggest shows of the year.

“TNA will be debuting a former WWE talent this weekend at Slammiversary, PWInsider.com can confirm. The word making the rounds is the talent is former multi-time singles champion, but we haven’t heard more beyond that (and yes, I realize that could mean pretty much every title from Speed on up) but there’s absolutely someone new being brought in to debut in Boston.”

This comes after TNA already announced that X-Division icon Amazing Red will return at Slammiversary on June 28 from the Agganis Arena in Boston.

“BREAKING: X-Division ICON Amazing Red returns to TNA at #TNASlammiversary on June 28 LIVE on PPV and TNA+ from the Agganis Arena in Boston.”

So, TNA is not just relying on one nostalgia pop. If this report is accurate, the company has another debut lined up, and bringing in a former WWE name could be a strong way to get people talking during a very noisy stretch for the promotion.

Bottom line, Slammiversary already had Amazing Red’s return on the card, but now there may be a bigger mystery waiting in Boston. TNA has been dealing with plenty of backstage shakeups lately, and a surprise former WWE champion debut could shift the attention right back to the ring.
