The wrestling world is mourning the loss of former pro wrestler Jerry Grey, better known to fans as “Golden Boy” Jerry Grey, who has died at the age of 62.
The news was announced by the Cauliflower Alley Club, which shared an emotional tribute honoring Grey and his decades-long connection to the wrestling business. The organization reflected on Grey’s passing with a heartfelt message:
“Today, I lost more than a friend… I lost a brother. Please join the Cauliflower Alley Club and I as we remember a dear friend, Jerry Grey, whos passed away at the age of 62. We send our sincerest condolences to his family and friends, rest easy old friend.”
Grey competed across several major wrestling promotions throughout the 1980s, including World Wrestling Federation, World Championship Wrestling, United States Wrestling Association, New Japan Pro-Wrestling and World Class Championship Wrestling. The Akron, Ohio native built a reputation as a tough in-ring competitor during his career, which began in 1981.
Among Grey’s accomplishments in wrestling were reigns as NWA Bahamas Heavyweight Champion, NWA Pacific Northwest Tag Team Champion and NWA Florida Tag Team Champion.
Grey originally stepped away from wrestling in 1988 before returning years later for another run between 2006 and 2009. In 2019, it became public that Grey was battling stage 4 colon cancer. As his health struggles worsened, a GoFundMe campaign was launched in 2022 with a goal of raising $40,000 to help cover mounting medical expenses. The fundraiser ultimately brought in $36,445 from supporters and wrestling fans. At the time, the organizer Grey’s difficult condition in an emotional statement:
“I have stage4-cancer-now metastasis to skin-Head tumors very worried about these. and I am in desperate need of help with the many bill’s that have accumulated,I have lost everything. if you can please donate any amount I sincerely appreciate It thankyou all so much.”
At this time, it has not been confirmed whether Grey’s death was directly connected to his cancer battle.

From regional territories to internationally known promotions, he spent years inside the ring entertaining crowds and building friendships throughout the wrestling industry.
