Oba Femi beat Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam… and fans still weren’t buying the finish. After watching Oba survive a Tombstone Piledriver onto exposed boards before popping back up to win, social media erupted with viewers accusing WWE of taking things way too far.
Following the match, one fan had no issue with Oba Femi winning—but thought WWE completely crossed the line with the kickout.
“I don’t mind Oba winning but kicking out of this was stupid as f****.”
Another argued WWE sacrificed one of wrestling’s most devastating spots just to make Femi look stronger.
“That was stupid. Big mistake. That move should be protected, especially on an open surface like that. Making Oba a little bit too strong.”
Others couldn’t believe Brock Lesnar’s offense was treated like it barely mattered, questioning why Oba Femi no-sold the spot: “What’s with this n**** no selling everything. It’s Brock Lesnar wtf going on 🤣🤣” Another fan felt the finish hurt both Lesnar and Oba in one shot.
“Ridiculously bad booking. Femi kicking out of multiple F5’s and a tombstone on exposed lumber was such a dumb move. Who can possibly believably beat him now? What a joke. This should’ve been a grudge match with Femi barely winning in the end. Terrible way to end it for Brock.”
One more fan couldn’t understand why WWE chose that move to shrug off: “Of all the moves they could have chosen to not sell… they no-sell the Tombstone smh.” Those reactions all came from one insane sequence during the Hell in a Cell match.
Lesnar looked every bit like “The Beast Incarnate” from the opening bell. He launched Femi around the ring with German Suplexes, smashed him with steel steps, blasted him with multiple F5s, unloaded with repeated chair shots, then ripped the canvas off the ring to expose the wooden boards underneath.
Then he went even further. Lesnar grabbed Femi, lifted him into position and drove him head-first into the exposed boards with a Tombstone Piledriver. It looked like the definitive end to the rivalry.
Instead…Oba kicked out. The Minneapolis crowd erupted in disbelief as Lesnar stared across the ring in frustration. Moments later, Femi was already fighting back. He knocked the chair out of Lesnar’s hands, connected with another Fall From Grace and scored the three-count to win the biggest match of his career.
After the match, Lesnar returned to the ring, hugged Femi, raised his hand in front of the SummerSlam crowd and called him “the future of WWE,” delivering an unmistakable passing-of-the-torch moment.
That emotional ending, however, wasn’t what dominated the conversation online. Instead, fans spent the rest of the night arguing over one question: Did WWE create its next unstoppable megastar… or did they make Oba Femi just a little too unbeatable?
