The backlash surrounding Becky Lynch vs. Sol Ruca at Saturday Night’s Main Event is now spreading beyond the storyline itself, as multiple fans are openly blasting WWE over the controversial finish and short match length.
Several fans took to Twitter and criticized WWE over the Saturday Night’s Main Event ending, where referee Jessika Carr took an accidental Sol Snatcher after Lynch used her as a shield. The match was then stopped, giving Ruca the win by disqualification. One fan ripped WWE for ending the match the way it did.
“this is how tone deaf this company has become, how could you end the match like that?”
Another fan questioned the creative behind the match and called the whole thing a waste: “Who booked & produced this trash match? Just a waste of time all around.” A third fan took issue with the fact that the bout was non-title in the first place.
“Honestly does it even matter because it was a non title match which is so stupid thanks @TripleH”
Another viewer complained that the match felt rushed and barely got enough time before the messy ending: “did they even wrestle for 5 minutes??? this was rushed for no reason and the ending was terrible !” One more fan didn’t hold back at all, calling the match a waste of television time.
“What a waste of tv time. This match absolutly sucked. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.”
The backlash comes after Becky Lynch went on her own social media rant, accusing Carr of being “power mad” and claiming she was only trying to protect the crowd from Sol Ruca.
“I don’t like POWER MAD Jessika Carr and her CROOKED ways but I stepped in like a HERO to PROTECT those that CANNOT protect themselves! The crowd were chanting ‘ONE MORE TIME’ at me to MAKE SURE SADISTIC SOL wouldn’t get back up!”
The finish now sets up Ruca for a Women’s Intercontinental Championship match against Lynch at Clash in Italy on May 31, 2026, from Turin. Still, based on the reaction online, WWE’s path to getting there clearly did not land well with everyone.
