Daniel Rodimer is making another attempt to fight the murder charge against him — this time with new legal arguments aimed at getting the case thrown out entirely.
Rodimer has filed a motion to dismiss the charge tied to the 2023 death of Christopher Tapp, a case that has continued to escalate since the initial investigation.
Rodimer, who appeared on WWE’s Tough Enough and later worked in developmental from 2006 to 2007, previously pleaded not guilty after being arrested in connection to the incident in Las Vegas.
The case centers around the death of 47-year-old Christopher Tapp, who died after a reported altercation in a hotel room on the Las Vegas Strip. While the situation was initially believed to be accidental, that quickly changed once investigators took a closer look. According to the Clark County Coroner’s Office, the death was officially ruled a homicide.
“The Clark County Coroner's office officially ruled his death a homicide, stating the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.”
Rodimer’s legal team is now pushing back hard against that conclusion, arguing that the injuries may not have been the result of an intentional act.
“Rodimer’s attorneys are arguing the Clark County coroner’s findings show Tapp’s injuries were the result of drug and alcohol use and were not suspicious.”
The motion also raises concerns about how evidence was obtained during the investigation, including claims that law enforcement crossed legal boundaries.
“The motion also alleges police violated attorney-client and spousal privilege by intercepting Rodimer’s text messages with his attorney and wife.”
Meanwhile, prosecutors continue to stand by their case, pointing to the criminal complaint filed by the Clark County District Attorney’s office.
“The criminal complaint… alleges Rodimer killed Tapp by striking him ‘on the head, the said killing having been willful, deliberate and premeditated.’”
Rodimer’s legal team is now trying to dismantle that narrative before the case moves further, arguing both the medical findings and investigative process should be questioned. With the motion now filed, the next step will determine whether the case proceeds to trial or faces another legal battle before that point.
