John Cena already made it clear he has zero interest in running for office, but now someone from the wrestling world is trying to change his mind.

Back in July 2025, John Cena addressed the idea of politics while promoting Heads of State, making it clear he’d rather play a president on screen than actually become one. That seemed to shut the door on any real-life ambitions. But in a new interview, Enzo Amore is opening that door right back up.

Speaking on Inside the Ring on April 28, 2026, Amore was asked about Cena’s future, and he didn’t hesitate to pitch the idea of Cena eventually stepping into politics, arguing that his popularity and global presence make him a strong candidate.

“Are we looking at the next President of the United States? I think he’d be stupid not to run for it. It’s a popularity contest, and I think he’s proven his point—he’s a very, very absolutely outstanding citizen who does the most to think things through in all situations and work well with others, because you can’t get to the top of the industry if you can’t work well with others.”

Amore continued by pointing to John Cena’s experience at the top of WWE and his international exposure, suggesting those factors could translate into political success.

“I need you guys to think about John Cena and the top of the company he sat on—the amount of opportunities to meet and speak with other people from other nations, to be known in those nations, to have good relationships and respect in those nations. He speaks Chinese! The guy is a very, very well-rounded human being, so I wouldn’t be surprised once his Hollywood run is done.”

He didn’t stop there. Amore even compared the current political landscape and suggested Cena could realistically make a run later in life if he chooses to pivot after Hollywood.

“Look—Trump is our president, he’s 79. I think Cena’s got a hell of a run in Hollywood and then some opportunities to maybe get into politics one day if he plays his cards right, if it’s something he wants to do. I think John is such a nice person—if he sees an opportunity to change the world, he might just do it.”

The comments come in direct contrast to Cena’s own stance, where he made it clear he prefers keeping politics strictly fictional while focusing on acting and wrapping up his in-ring career. Still, with voices like Amore publicly backing the idea, the conversation isn’t going away anytime soon, even if Cena himself isn’t entertaining it right now.

Do you think John Cena could actually succeed in politics someday, or is this one role better left on screen? Let me know your thoughts.
