Enzo Amore’s WWE career ended in one of the most shocking and chaotic moments in wrestling history. The former Cruiserweight Champion says he had no idea his career was about to implode during rehearsals for WWE’s 25th Anniversary of Monday Night RAW in January 2018 — until Vince McMahon personally told him to go home.

Just hours before he was set to wrestle Goldust and close out a multi-segment storyline involving Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax, and The Dudley Boyz, a sexual assault allegation against Enzo went viral on social media. The woman behind the now-deleted tweet, under the name MissGucciWitch, accused him of rape stemming from an alleged October 2017 incident. Enzo spoke about it during an appearance on The John Rondi Show and revealed that the first he heard about it was from Vince McMahon himself.

“I’m going through rehearsals and people start looking at me like, ‘You all right, bro?’ I’m like, ‘What? What’s up?’ Next thing I know, I’m in Vince McMahon’s office. He tells me, ‘Why didn’t you tell me?’ I’m like, ‘Brother, like, I didn’t f**ing know this sht was going crazy right now. Like, what?’”*

McMahon then told him to leave the arena immediately — even though Enzo was still the reigning WWE Cruiserweight Champion at the time.

“He tells me, ‘You gotta go home.’ And I took the cruiserweight title with me in a Gucci bag and I turned the phone around. I filmed myself the whole f**ing way home. I was so angry. One day maybe that video footage will come out in some documentary.”

The following day, Enzo got the call confirming his release. According to him, the decision wasn’t directly from Vince McMahon, who reportedly wanted to wait before taking action.

“Ultimately it led to the next day getting a phone call from at the time Mark Carrano who was the head of HR or whatever and he told me that… cooler heads did not prevail — meaning Vince McMahon. From my understanding, it wasn’t Vince that wanted me gone at that moment.”

Despite the shocking end to his WWE run, Enzo still found a strange sense of closure — even pride — in how it all unfolded.

“I just got fired and I left on top almost like on my own. That — you never leave with the title. I left with the title.”

The incident instantly derailed what could have been one of the biggest moments of his WWE career. Enzo’s exit remains a cautionary tale in how fast things can unravel — even for someone standing at the top of their division.
