Pro wrestling fans remember Enzo Amore’s rapid-fire quick wit and merchandise-moving lines during his weekly promos. He is still doing his thing, and the Bona Fide G is not officially calling it quits at all.
Former WWE Superstar Enzo Amore is officially set for another major independent wrestling appearance as rumors about a possible WWE return continue making rounds online. Smoke DZA confirmed during a recent livestream that Enzo, who is competing as The Real One, will wrestle at Fourth Rope’s July 4 event during Essence Fest in New Orleans.
The announcement came during an appearance on The Wednesday Hang livestream with former WWE commentator David Otunga. This made it official that The Real One is far from finished.
During the discussion, David Otunga brought up speculation that wrestling companies may be interested in bringing Enzo back after his recent run on the independent scene started gaining attention again.
Smoke DZA addressed the rumors directly and confirmed that Enzo will still be part of Fourth Rope’s upcoming event despite the ongoing talk about a WWE comeback.
“As far as, you know, the rumors, because I see it on the dirt sheets, too. I don’t really know. But he’s our Flyweight Champion and you know we got Essence Fest July 4th, and he will be there.”
DZA also spoke highly of Enzo’s contributions to the company behind the scenes and credited him as an important part of the promotion’s growth and identity.
“The Real One is big money, man. That guy is big money. I watched him rebuild himself from the ground up. I’m so proud of that dude because he’s very, very instrumental into what we do… Enzo is one of the most brilliant wrestling minds I’ve ever met.”
Enzo Amore originally became one of WWE’s most talked about personalities during his run alongside Big Cass in NXT and on the main roster. The team became known for their crowd reactions, microphone work, and catchphrases before eventually splitting apart in storyline.
Although the Realest Guys In The Room never won tag team gold on the main roster, Enzo later captured the WWE Cruiserweight Championship and became one of the key players of the division.
WWE released him in January 2018 after allegations of sexual assault surfaced publicly. Enzo denied the accusations, and prosecutors later declined to file charges due to insufficient evidence. WWE stated at the time that the release was connected to his failing to inform the company about the investigation.
The former Enzo Amore has been staying active on the indie wrestling scene throughout 2026. So far this year, he has picked up wins over Clay Williams in World Wrestling Alliance, Danny Storm for Warriors of Wrestling, and La Estrella during a Freelance Wrestling event in Chicago. He also teamed with Nate Webb for a tag team victory at Squared Circle Expo in Indianapolis, and those are only a few of the matches he has worked recently as he continues to get his reps in.
