El Hijo del Vikingo has already made it through surgery, and judging by his latest update, he’s trying to keep his head in a good place.
Vikingo took to Instagram after undergoing surgery and told fans the procedure was successful. He also shared a video from his hospital bed, where he appeared to be in good spirits while sitting with his wife, Diana Jauregui, also known as Aleidis.
“Nothing will be the same again, but everything can be better than it ever was. HDLV family everything was a success thanks to God 🙏 Thank you my beautiful doll @aleidis_oficial.”
That is the update fans were waiting for after Vikingo revealed he was going under the knife. Just one day earlier, he posted a photo of himself wearing a brace on his left leg and using a crutch, making it clear the injury was serious. At the time, Vikingo thanked the people supporting him and confirmed he was headed into surgery.
“Your way, God, not mine.
Family, Mr. HDLV is going into surgery tomorrow. Thank you for your support.
A grateful heart weighs less. “Gratitude.” Thank you for your support and kindness. @dorianroldanaaa @wwe @luchalibreaaa @wwenxt
Thank you to my wife for always being there in good times and bad. I love you very much. @aleidis_oficial
Thanks to my brother for the support @wwefelixfernandez Say hello to me….”
The injury had already forced a change on WWE television. Vikingo was scheduled to defend the AAA Latin American Championship against E.K. Prosper on the June 30 episode of NXT, but that match was pulled.
Instead, WWE ran an angle where Keanu Carver was shown standing over Vikingo backstage before Robert Stone called for medical help. At the time, Vikingo’s left knee was badly swollen, and he was in a brace while waiting on an MRI.
The timing is rough, because Vikingo was getting more exposure through WWE’s working relationship with AAA, and a title defense on NXT would have put him in front of a much larger U.S. television audience. Instead, his momentum has been put on hold while he starts the recovery process.
For now, the best news is that Vikingo’s surgery was successful and he appears to be staying positive. The return date can wait — the first step is getting healthy, and he has already cleared that hurdle.
