The wrestling world continues to find new ways to honor PAC after his passing, and one of the most meaningful tributes yet could soon become a reality. According to former WWE star Big Damo, efforts are already underway to have a statue of the late AEW star erected in his hometown of Newcastle.
Speaking with Wrestling Epicenter, Damo reflected on just how much PAC, real name Ben Satterley, meant to the city where he grew up. He explained that PAC remained incredibly proud of his Newcastle roots throughout his life and was a passionate supporter of Newcastle United, making him a beloved figure far beyond professional wrestling.
“I know how devastated, you know, everybody is back home because, you know, everybody looks up to him. You know, he’s from a town that there’s no other major wrestler from, really. He’s from Newcastle, and, like, he was such a massive fan of the soccer team there, Newcastle United.”
Damo revealed that Newcastle has already paid tribute to PAC following his passing, but those close to the situation are hoping to go even further. He then shared that discussions are already taking place about creating a permanent monument in the city.
“They did a lovely tribute to him, actually. And there’s this whole memorial for him in Newcastle. We’re looking to see if we can get a statue to him in the city, and we’re trying to get permission for that because, like, he means so much to the people there. He means so much to wrestling.”
Damo also spoke about the overwhelming response from those who knew PAC personally, saying the loss has been felt throughout the wrestling world.
“He means so much to everybody coming through. I know I got in touch with a lot of my friends at AEW, and they’re all devastated. You know, like, Ben’s such a cool fucker. That’s the best way to describe it.”
Looking back on their friendship, Damo said some of his favorite memories were the unexpected moments they’d run into each other, explaining that PAC always had a way of lifting people’s spirits.
“So, yeah, it’s been really tough. But, like, my best memories are of him, like, randomly running into him and just immediately feeling better. You know, there’s times where, like, we’ve caught each other where both of us weren’t feeling great, and, you know, we’ve been able to perk each other up and things like that. And that’s one of the best things about wrestling. It is a brotherhood. You know, it is a long, large family.”
While nothing has been officially approved yet, the fact that efforts are already underway speaks volumes about the impact PAC had both inside and outside the ring. If permission is ultimately granted, the statue would stand as a lasting tribute to one of Newcastle’s most celebrated wrestling stars.
