Drew McIntyre’s Hollywood career could end up bringing a pretty huge name into WWE. Russell Crowe apparently wants to work with McIntyre at WrestleMania, and this wasn’t just a random joke—the Oscar-winning actor has actually pitched ideas for how they could appear together.
Speaking on The Joe Vulpis Podcast, McIntyre was asked whether any of his movie co-stars could potentially cross over into WWE. Drew immediately brought up Crowe and revealed that the actor has talked about getting involved more than once.
According to McIntyre, Crowe got particularly excited about the idea of the two appearing together as a team. Their conversations even reached the point where WrestleMania came up as a possible setting.
“Russell was legitimately talking about he wanted to do something a couple of times. He got all excited about us doing something together in the same team and talked about, like, WrestleMania or whatever.”
Crowe apparently wasn’t short on ideas either. McIntyre revealed that the Gladiator star was imagining more of a heel presentation for the pair and even suggested adding an assistant or manager to the mix.
“And he talked about us having a manager, like an assistant, kind of like you. It was more of a heel thing he was coming up with, and he had some great ideas.”
The most interesting part is that Crowe apparently isn’t just throwing around fantasy booking ideas for fun. According to Drew, he’s genuinely willing to do something with WWE, although McIntyre joked that getting a Hollywood star of Crowe’s caliber probably wouldn’t come cheap.
“He’s willing to do it. I mean, I have to talk with the bosses about the numbers because I’m sure he’s not cheap.”
McIntyre and Crowe became close while working together on The Last Druid, which filmed for months in Spain before wrapping in August. Crowe publicly praised Drew when filming ended, calling him a “good lad” and “salt of the earth” after the two squeezed in one final gym session together.
The timing is certainly interesting with McIntyre still away from WWE television and leaning heavily into his “Hollywood Drew” era. There’s no indication WWE has actually started putting together a WrestleMania appearance for Crowe, but Drew says the interest is already there on the actor’s side. If McIntyre gets his way, his return to WWE could eventually come with one very famous ally standing beside him.
