Dragon Lee isn’t worried about missing one match anymore. He’s worried about missing the next three or four months. Just days after revealing he had been forced to pull out of AAA’s Verano de Escándalo because of a torn thumb ligament, the WWE star shared another update—and it’s clear he’s trying to avoid the worst-case scenario at all costs.

Speaking with NotSam Wrestling, Lee revealed the full extent of the injury after undergoing multiple medical tests. While he admitted the diagnosis wasn’t what he wanted to hear, he also made it clear he’s doing everything he can to stay out of the operating room.

“I got X-rays, then an MRI. The doctor said I have a tear in my thumb. I’m like, ‘Damn.’ I wanted to wrestle.”

The biggest concern now isn’t the injury itself. It’s what happens if doctors decide surgery is the only option. According to Lee, that would likely keep him out of action for three to four months—something he desperately wants to avoid after building momentum on both WWE and AAA programming.

“I don’t know how long I will be out, but I don’t want to get surgery because if I get surgery, I’ll be out for 3-4 months, and I don’t want that.”

Instead, Lee is hoping there’s another path. In fact, he says doctors have already told him wrestling through the injury could still be possible, leaving the final decision up in the air.

“They told me with this injury I can probably wrestle. Hopefully they will let me wrestle.”

Lee originally suffered the injury during a previous episode of RAW. He later revealed on Instagram that the torn ligament forced him to withdraw from AAA’s Verano de Escándalo, where he had been scheduled to face Mecha Wolf and La Parka in a Triple Threat Latin American Championship Qualifier for TripleManía.

For now, there still isn’t a timetable for Lee’s return. What is clear, however, is that surgery is the outcome he’s trying hardest to avoid—and if doctors ultimately clear him to compete without it, Dragon Lee sounds more than ready to get right back into the ring.

Do you think Dragon Lee should take time off and fully heal, or should he wrestle through the injury if doctors allow it? Let us know in the comments below.
