Dragon Lee’s incredible run over the past few weeks has hit an unfortunate roadblock, as he’s been forced to pull out from the AAA Verano de Escándalo tapings due to injury.

The WWE star announced on his Instagram story that he has been forced to withdraw from AAA Verano de Escándalo after suffering a thumb injury on this past Monday’s episode of Raw. Lee shared a photo showing his thumb badly swollen and severely discolored before revealing in a follow-up video that he tore a ligament, leaving him unable to compete at tonight’s tapings.

Lee had been scheduled to face Mecha Wolf and La Parka in a Triple Threat Latin American Championship Qualifier for TripleManía, but the injury has now taken him out of the match.

The setback comes after Lee competed on the July 20 edition of Raw, where he teamed with Je’Von Evans in a losing effort against The Vision. According to Lee, that’s where the ligament tear actually happened.

At this point, there’s no word on how long the injury will keep him out of action. Thumb ligament injuries can vary significantly depending on their severity, and neither Lee nor WWE has provided a timetable for his return.

The timing couldn’t be much worse for Lee, who has been building serious momentum in recent weeks while also balancing appearances for both WWE and AAA. Now, those plans are on hold as he begins his recovery.
