Disco Inferno wasn’t in much of a sympathetic mood after Steven Borden’s scary AEW All Out injury scare. Most fans were relieved after Tony Khan revealed Sting’s son’s medical tests came back clear. Disco went the complete opposite direction. Instead of calling it bad luck or wishing Borden well, he blamed the whole thing on Borden himself.
Taking to Twitter after the pay-per-view, Disco argued that this is exactly what happens when someone doesn’t have enough experience to judge the risks they’re taking in the ring.
“This is what happens when the level of experience and bad risk assessment can cause serious injury.”
It’s a pretty harsh take considering Borden’s AEW pay-per-view debut ended with the referee immediately waving off the match after a nasty collision with Kevin Knight. Borden was taken to the hospital afterwards, but Tony Khan later told reporters his tests came back good and that he hoped he’d be able to travel home the next day.
Disco clearly isn’t looking at the outcome, though. He’s looking at what led to it. In his eyes, the collision wasn’t just one of those unfortunate things that happens in wrestling—it was the result of inexperience and poor judgment.
Whether fans agree with him is another story entirely. Plenty were simply happy to hear Borden avoided a more serious injury, while Disco used the moment to start a debate over whether the scary scene could have been prevented in the first place.
