Daria Rae is taking her talents from TNA Wrestling to a movie set, because the former WWE star has officially landed a role in the upcoming thriller Lazarus Syndrome.

Rae, who wrestled in WWE as Sonya Deville under her real name Daria Berenato, has joined a cast that already includes Tara Reid, Sofia Milos, Al Sapienza, Steve Stanulis, Frankie G and Max B. According to an October 5 press release, filming is scheduled to begin November 30 at locations throughout New Jersey, with John Bianco directing and Stanulis Films producing. The announcement confirmed Rae’s casting while putting her right alongside several established names.

“Tara Reid, Sofia Milos, Al Sapienza and former WWE star Daria Berenato have joined the cast of Lazarus Syndrome, a new thriller directed by John Bianco and produced by Stanulis Films.”

The movie follows a detective who nearly gets killed during a botched drug raid, only to survive and start experiencing some seriously strange changes. His instincts become sharper, his memories begin breaking apart, and he starts wondering whether surviving came with a much darker price. The press release laid out the setup for the thriller.

“Lazarus Syndrome follows a detective who is nearly killed during a botched drug raid. After surviving, he begins experiencing unexplained changes such as heightened instincts, fractured memories and a growing suspicion that his survival came at a cost.”

The movie role comes while Rae remains a fixture on TNA television. She debuted with the company in January 2026 as an authority figure and has since become a regular part of the show. Ringside News previously covered how Daria Rae re-signed with TNA after becoming a weekly authority figure, keeping her locked into the company as its Director of Operations.

Rae has also made it clear that her current TNA run isn’t centered around getting back in the ring. Ringside News previously noted that she was being used as a non-wrestling authority figure, which gives her a lot more room to chase opportunities outside wrestling without having to balance a full-time match schedule. The production team is still keeping some details under wraps, and more casting announcements are expected before cameras start rolling.

“Additional production details and casting announcements will be released at a later date.”

Rae has already reinvented herself since leaving WWE, going from Sonya Deville to one of TNA’s most visible authority figures. Now she’s adding a thriller to the résumé, and with production kicking off in November, fans won’t have to wait long to see what this next chapter looks like.

What do you think about Daria Rae joining the cast of Lazarus Syndrome? Would you like to see her take on more movie and television roles outside wrestling? Leave your feedback in the comments.
