Darby Allin is preparing for one of the biggest matches of his AEW career, but outside the ring, he also has a massive life moment coming up very soon.
While speaking to Q1043 New York, Allin revealed that he is getting married on June 27, just one day before another AEW pay-per-view. That means there won’t be much time for a honeymoon.
“June 27th. June 27th. Yes. So it’s coming up. It’s coming up. I just found out the wedding’s on the 27th, and the very next day we have another pay-per-view. So no honeymoon—it’ll be in Seattle, where we’re from.”
Allin also opened up about how he first met his fiancée, revealing that they originally knew each other from high school.
“Yeah, we met her on the school bus in high school and at the time she was dating a wannabe gang member. And I thought to myself, how did he get her?”
He then shared the shocking story of what happened to her years ago, explaining that she survived a terrifying shooting incident.
“They’re walking on a trail one day, and then he starts arguing with another wannabe gang member and that guy pulls out a gun. Her boyfriend at the time puts her behind him, and then the other guy shoots the boyfriend, goes through her neck and into her head. So, she got shot in the head.”
Allin said they later reconnected after she saw one of his wild stunt videos online, and things escalated quickly from there.
“We reconnect all these years later. She sees a video of me jumping off a waterfall and next thing you know, we’re engaged. I proposed to her on top of Mount Everest.”
He explained that their reunion began through Instagram after she noticed he was still doing the same kind of daring things he did back in high school.
“Instagram. She’s like, ‘It’s so cool that you’re still doing all the crazy stuff from high school.’ And then I was like, ‘Let’s hang out,’ and then brought her bungee jumping and then I proposed to her on top of Everest.”
Allin is currently set to defend the AEW World Championship against MJF in a Hair vs. Title match at Double or Nothing. With a title defense, wedding, and another pay-per-view all packed into a short stretch, Darby’s life outside the ring sounds just as intense as his career inside it.
