Damian Priest wasn’t satisfied with turning on R-Truth in the middle of the ring. Nearly two weeks later, he tracked Truth down at the WWE Performance Center and made sure everybody knew their friendship was dead for good.
On September 24, WWE took to Twitter and shared footage from the Performance Center showing Priest ambushing R-Truth during what appeared to be a visit with the trainers. The company captioned the video:
“R-Truth gets viciously assaulted by @ArcherOfInfamy during a trainer’s visit at the WWE Performance Center. 😳”
The attack was quick and ugly. Priest blindsided Truth before repeatedly stomping him as Truth screamed in pain. He then hurled him into a door, held him down, and finally explained exactly why he’d snapped.
“You think this is funny? You get it? You understand me now, Truth? No more buddies. No more jokes. I should be a champion instead of wasting my time with you. Go bother someone else, pendejo.”
The assault is the latest chapter in Priest’s betrayal of his former partner. On the September 11 edition of SmackDown, Priest and Truth challenged The War Raiders for the AAA World Tag Team Championship but came up short. After the match, Priest shook Truth’s hand, hugged him in the middle of the ring, and then blindsided him with a clothesline to officially end Wepa Up.
One cheap shot ended the team. This latest attack made it personal. Priest isn’t blaming bad luck or one lost title match anymore—he’s blaming R-Truth for keeping him away from championship gold. The question now is whether Truth finally fights back, or if Priest has already made his point loud and clear.
