Cyndi Lauper may finally be getting closer to the WWE Hall of Fame, but fans might still have to wait a bit.
Lauper was a massive part of WWE’s 1980s boom, helping bring mainstream attention to the company during the Rock ‘n’ Wrestling era. For years, fans have wondered why she still hasn’t received a WWE Hall of Fame induction, especially considering how much she meant to that period of the business.
The history between Lauper and WWE has not always sounded smooth either. Lauper has said in the past that things got “weird” near the end of her relationship with the company, and that has only added to the mystery around why she has never been inducted.
Now, things appear to be moving in a better direction. A Cyndi Lauper WWE action figure was recently announced, and that immediately got fans talking about whether WWE and Lauper had patched things up enough for a Hall of Fame moment. According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, the relationship between both sides has been strengthened, and Lauper is now more likely than ever to eventually be inducted.
That does not mean fans should start penciling her in for 2027. WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select noted that the induction likely would not happen that year, and the current relationship is still limited to licensing for now.
Still, that licensing deal could be the start of something bigger. There are said to be more things planned for the future, and the action figure is a pretty clear sign that WWE is no longer keeping Lauper at arm’s length.
Cyndi Lauper has long been one of the biggest celebrity names fans have wanted to see in the WWE Hall of Fame. She helped make WWE feel cool to people outside the wrestling bubble in the 1980s, and if this new deal is the first step toward finally honoring her, it would close a very long-running gap in WWE history.
