Tom Brady wants a WWE storyline, and Cody Rhodes already has some advice for the NFL legend: Just don’t get involved in Cody’s business.
Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Rhodes responded to Brady’s recent comments about wanting to step into a WWE ring. While he welcomed the idea of the seven-time Super Bowl champion joining the company, Rhodes said celebrities somehow always end up becoming part of his biggest rivalries—and he’d rather Brady pick someone else.
“Here’s my warning. Tom doesn’t need a warning. He’s a super athlete. But a lot of the celebrities and people who want to cross into wrestling, and we do some sort of merging of worlds, I feel like they always get involved in my stuff. You know? Like… Travis Scott, Pat McAfee. They always get right in on what I’m doing. If you come in, you don’t… you can pick other people to mess with. You can.“
Rhodes then offered Brady a much safer way to make an unforgettable WWE debut. Instead of wrestling a full match, he suggested Brady simply show up, deliver one chop to CM Punk, and leave the rest to him. Painting the scene, Rhodes joked that he’d hold the reigning WWE Champion in place while Brady delivered the shot.
“And also, you know, not everyone has to fully wrestle. You know, you come to the show. Prime example. I hook old Cookie Monster Punk, right? I hook his arms like this. CM Punk, you know? Cookie Monster. Chick Magnet, Chaos Magnet, Constantly Miserable. Cookie Monster. Whatever he—I mean, right now, he is the best in the world. He’s the WWE Champion. But I hook his arms like this, I turn to you, you just give him a nice open chop right on the chest. The place reacts, they clap, and that’s all.”
According to Rhodes, that single moment would be enough to earn Brady a lasting place in WWE history—without asking him to take the risks that come with a full wrestling match.
“You get the Hall of Fame run after that. Yeah, you don’t have to do the whole jump from the top rope. Not everyone has to be a full-blown… They don’t have to do the full thing. Let me do that.”
Rhodes’ comments come after Brady recently admitted he’s still hoping WWE President Nick Khan finds a storyline for him, saying he believes he has at least one match left in him and would happily embrace the role of a WWE villain if the opportunity ever came along.
Whether that phone call ever happens remains to be seen, but if Brady does show up in WWE, Cody Rhodes has already made one thing clear—he’s welcome, as long as he stays out of Cody’s feuds.
