WWE is making sure fans do not miss a second of Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther.
During the June 15 episode of WWE RAW, WWE announced that this Friday’s huge SmackDown match between Cody Rhodes and Gunther will air commercial-free. That means the Undisputed WWE Championship match is getting the full spotlight just one week before Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia.
The match already has a lot going on. Cody Rhodes is putting his title on the line, Gunther is trying to take it, and Sami Zayn will be the special guest referee. That alone makes the match feel dangerous for Cody, especially with Sami having his own problems with him.
Now WWE is making the match even bigger by taking commercials out of the equation. No breaks. No cutaways. No missing a big spot while the show goes to ads. That is a strong sign WWE wants this to feel like a premium event match on regular TV. Cody vs. Gunther is already big enough, but adding Sami as referee and making it commercial-free puts even more attention on what could happen.
The timing is also interesting. WWE Night of Champions is only one week away, so this could either be a major setup for Saudi Arabia or the night WWE pulls off a shocking title change on SmackDown. Either way, Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther just became must-see TV.

Do you think Cody Rhodes survives Gunther on SmackDown, or is WWE setting up a title change before Night of Champions?
