Cody Rhodes has made it crystal clear that Stardust is staying dead.
While speaking with Overtime, Cody was asked to choose between wearing the Stardust face paint for 14 days or rocking Guile’s flat-top haircut for an entire year. He did not hesitate.
“I would rather always do the Guile haircut. I mean, a year is a long time, so you’re committing. I can’t see a world where I would want the Stardust face paint for one day. So I definitely would go with the Guile flat top.”
That is about as blunt as Cody could get without outright burying the gimmick. Stardust was one of the final characters Cody portrayed before leaving WWE in 2016, and he has spent years building a completely different identity since then. Now, even the idea of putting that face paint back on for a single day sounds like a hard no.
The Guile look is a different story. Cody plays Guile in Street Fighter, which hit theaters on October 16, while Roman Reigns stars as Akuma. Rhodes has fully leaned into the role, even showing up at UFC 332 dressed as Guile.
His involvement in the movie also grew after filming started. Cody’s role was expanded after producers saw his performance, and Andrew Schulz later revealed that hours of Cody Rhodes footage never made the final cut. So if Cody has to pick between looking like Guile for a year or looking like Stardust for two weeks, the choice is apparently not even close. Stardust may still live on in WWE history, but Cody Rhodes clearly does not want that paint anywhere near his face again.
