The August 7 edition of WWE SmackDown brought the aftermath of SummerSlam as the stories spilled over to Friday night. Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes are far from finished with each other.
Randy Orton returned to WWE at SummerSlam to help CM Punk beat Cody Rhodes. The American Nightmare opened up this week’s show by calling our Randy Orton. The Viper didn’t come out, but CM Punk did, and he denied knowing Orton was going to interfere at SummerSlam. Then Rhodes left the ring, but he returned later on.
Randy Orton was in the ring for a promo, but he didn’t get one word out before Cody Rhodes made his way out. Then the two started a promo battle.
Cody Rhodes made it clear that he doesn’t have to be the good guy anymore in WWE. This rivalry is personal, and it appears that there may be a lot more to unpack before the two finally get their hands on each other.
Cody Rhodes has been a babyface since his return to WWE. Now that Randy Orton is back in the fold, it appears that the Viper may have brought out the worst in The American Nightmare. Orton may be called the Legend Killer, but Rhodes questioned “who’s gonna kill you?” at the end of his promo on SmackDown this week.
No match between Randy Orton andy Cody Rhodes has been made official, but the dyamic in WWE may have changed with this feud.
