Cody Rhodes is one of WWE’s biggest stars, but that top spot has apparently come with some distance from the rest of the locker room. Rhodes admitted he spends a lot of time away from everyone backstage these days, and he flat-out said he doesn’t love that it has happened.

During an appearance on Flagrant, Rhodes was jokingly asked whether people in WWE even like him. He laughed it off at first, then got serious about how his routine has changed. Rhodes said he thinks his reputation is fine, but admitted he has become isolated.

“I think I have an okay reputation. At this point in my career, I think I—and I regret this a little bit—I’m a little siloed up. I’m a little away from everyone.”

He then explained exactly what that looks like backstage. Instead of hanging around the locker room for hours, Rhodes spends a lot of his time on his bus and waits until he actually needs to be inside.

“But like the current kind of locker room, I’m always on the bus. I typically wait a long time before I go in. Yeah, so I’m a little siloed up. I shouldn’t be.”

When the idea of him becoming a diva came up, Rhodes pushed back. His explanation was pretty simple: if WWE doesn’t need him in the room, he doesn’t want to force himself into it.

“Just like I’m not late or anything, but if I’m not needed, I don’t want to be a diva. I don’t know if—no, I don’t think so. But maybe. But maybe as I’ve been doing it a long time.”

The conversation then shifted to Rhodes’ growing Hollywood career, especially his role as Guile in Street Fighter. Rhodes said the locker room isn’t bitter about it either and is actually excited for him.

“I think the locker room is actually very excited about Street Fighter, and I hope we get at the premiere some of the boys out to see it because also too, it’s an opportunity.”

Rhodes also pointed out that the movie didn’t just bring in one wrestler.

“This movie, Katau, Kale, once again getting a shout-out here, they didn’t just cast one wrestler. There are three wrestlers in this movie.”

That comes as Rhodes continues building his Hollywood profile through Street Fighter, but it sounds like the bigger change has happened backstage in WWE. Rhodes is still one of the faces of the company, he just isn’t spending nearly as much time hanging around everyone else.

Rhodes doesn’t sound like he’s trying to big-time the locker room. If anything, he sounds bothered that he has drifted away from it, even if sitting on the bus until he is needed has become part of his routine.

What do you make of Cody Rhodes admitting he has become more isolated from the WWE locker room? Do you think that naturally happens when someone reaches his level? Let us know what you think in the comments.
