CM Punk will not be part of WWE Night of Champions, despite fans wondering if WWE had a surprise planned for Saudi Arabia.
Punk has been away from WWE television, and with Night of Champions taking place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, plenty of fans were watching to see if he would suddenly show up. That is not happening.
According to Fightful Select, CM Punk is not in Saudi Arabia for Night of Champions. Punk also had an MMA commentary job Friday night, as he was working Cage Fury Fighting Championships 156.
That pretty much shuts down any idea that Punk could appear at Night of Champions. WWE has a loaded card for the Premium Live Event, but Punk is not expected to walk through the curtain.
During his CFFC appearance, Punk was asked if there was any big news to share. He did not give a WWE return update and joked about his weight instead.
“Big news? No, I don’t have a lot of news. I gained 20 pounds recently. It’s not good weight. The suit’s a little tight, ladies and gentlemen.”
So, while fans are still waiting for Punk’s WWE return, Night of Champions is not the spot. He was not in Saudi Arabia, he had MMA commentary duties, and WWE’s Premium Live Event will move forward without him.
Punk’s absence is still going to get people talking, especially with WWE stacking the Night of Champions card. Still, this one is simple: CM Punk is not part of the show, and fans should not expect a surprise appearance from him in Riyadh.
