CM Punk apparently had the same reaction a lot of wrestling fans are having right now after learning Sherilyn Guerrero is officially training to become a wrestler.
During an appearance on The Smooth Vega Podcast, Sherilyn opened up about reconnecting with wrestling stars who knew her growing up after the death of her father, Eddie Guerrero. One of the biggest names she mentioned was CM Punk, who she described as someone who became like an older brother figure during a difficult period in her life.
Sherilyn explained that she spent time around Punk during his WWE years and even accompanied him to Make-A-Wish appearances when she was younger.
“With CM Punk, I would go with him to like his Makea-Wishes. I would follow him around the ring. He was an older brother I needed after my dad passed away.”
When Punk later discovered she was training to become a wrestler herself, Sherilyn said his reaction immediately caught her attention.
“CM Punk was like, ‘Don’t tell me you’re wrestling.’ I said, ‘I sure am.’”
According to Sherilyn, Punk instantly embraced her after hearing the news, which became one of those moments that reminded her how connected many wrestlers still feel to Eddie Guerrero’s family years later.
“He just embraced me. It’s um I you know, it’s not cliche, but it’s God. I I really feel like it was just it’s supposed to happen.”
Sherilyn also discussed reconnecting with other wrestling names she grew up around, including Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio, both of whom remain close to her family.
She’s currently training at Reality of Wrestling under Booker T as she works toward making her in-ring debut. With Eddie Guerrero still viewed as one of the most beloved stars in wrestling history, fans are already heavily invested in Sherilyn’s journey before she’s even wrestled her first official match.
