WWE brought SummerSlam 2026‘s first night to fans, and it left a lot of people talking. When everything was said and done, CM Punk had a lot to say.
CM Punk retained the Undisputed WWE Title at SummerSlam, thanks to Randy Orton’s timely return to the company. The match was a highlight of the night, but it wasn’t the main event. After SummerSlam, Punk had a chance to address this.
During the post-show after SummerSlam, CM Punk was asked about not headlining SummerSlam. He was questioned about whether he felt a certain way about this, and he wasn’t short on a response at all.
“Of course I had feelings about that, but I’m not one of those guys who has it in my contract that I have to end the show. Listen, ladies and gentlemen, there’s a main event and there’s a match that goes on last. I’m not the one to decide that, I’m too old for that. I’m just gonna lace my boots up and beat someone’s ass. Whether I’m first or last or the popcorn match, CM Punk is always the main event.”
CM Punk has a lot of momentum. He is also still the Undisputed WWE Champion. Only time will tell what is next for him, but there is certainly a target on his back. This is something that he realizes all too well.
SummerSlam was a big night, but CM Punk is ready for whatever. He said that Randy Orton, his mother, and father can get some too. He made it very clear that he is “not a p*ssy” and that brought fans to a fever pitch after SummerSlam as they chanted his name. Obviously, he’s taking that gratitude and love that he has to the next level, no matter where he may find himself on the card.
